Head of Digital Storytelling

James Vu is the Head of Digital Storytelling at Square Circle and leads our in-house production unit – SC Studio.

James is a digital communications expert, with an extensive background in digital media and a passion for storytelling. In his role as Head of Digital Storytelling, he is responsible for overseeing the development of a wide range of digital content. Some of James’ contributions at Square Circle include his work on the JSS4D Land Mediation project, where he developed and produced digital content across still and video mediums to convey the stories of landowners and the impacts of land mediation in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville. James has also crafted a number of digital stories for DFAT’s Mekong-Australia Partnership Awards scholars, capturing their workshop experiences and sharing their stories and the contributions they hope to make in their home communities. James also played a key role in the production of the video report for the Global Independent Evaluation of the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI).

Prior to joining Square Circle, James worked extensively with a variety of organisations in Vietnam and Australia, including international advertising agencies and brands, where he gained the multimedia production skills he now applies to all SC Studio productions. James’ areas of expertise include digital storytelling and the production of online training materials and short documentaries. James holds a master’s degree in strategic advertising from Queensland University of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in international communication and culture from the Diplomatic Academy of Vietnam in Hanoi.

In his free time, James enjoys exploring new technologies and staying up-to-date with the latest trends in the field.
