The Bushmen Farming Network is a community-based organisation located in Malaita, Solomon Islands. Using a unique organic based ‘learn while you work’ growing method they work with local communities and farmers to reintroduce local crops and kastom to get people to recognise the importance of eating locally. They have ongoing projects teaching inmates at the Auki Correctional Facility about organic farming and also led an inclusive community response to Covid-19 under the banner ‘Plantim Staka Locol KaiKai’ (Plant lots of local food). Their work has been featured in newspapers in Solomon Islands as well as in peer-reviewed academic journals.
